Year Four

Badger Class Teacher: Mrs Hodges

           Dragonfly Class Teacher: Mr Stockton

Welcome to Year 4

In Year 4 we aim to develop a safe, happy and enjoyable learning environment. We want to ensure that we create a place where everyone is able to thrive and make progress.

Your support of Blended Learning is vital to help your child to fulfil their potential. We ask you to hear your child read at least 3 times a week and encourage them to apply what we have learnt in class.

It really helps your child’s learning to be ready to learn each day. Remember to bring their reading book, reading record and Blended Learning book every day, and PE kit should be in school at all times. We are athletes in PE on Wednesday and Thursday.

If you need to speak to us with questions or other issues then catch us at the end of the day, or email Year4@aloeric.wilts.sch.uk.

Thank you for all your support.

How can I help my child in Year 4?

Blended Learning: to support learning in school, there will be weekly blended learning activities to be completed. Providing space, time and encouragement gives a positive message. Please talk about the tasks, encourage and guide the children through their blended learning – please remember, we are here to support you if you have any concerns.

Read together:  listen to your child read or talk to them about what they have read. We use our reading diaries to record our reading at home. Read a variety of different genres to make reading enjoyable.

Reading Dog Questions may be useful when talking to your child about what they have read.

Times tables: This year, we are placing an emphasis on learning the times tables up to 12 x 12. Therefore, each week, your child will receive times table practise sheets, where they will practise the multiplication and division facts. Please encourage your child to practise their tables in a fun and engaging way through the Times Table Rockstars website too (they should have a username and password) https://ttrockstars.com/
